Our client is a major municipal body in the city and seeks to pedestrianise a key area under its jurisdiction and create an extended vehicle free zone. The client organisation is part of the transport arm of the city municipality of a future Host City of a summer multi-sport event and is responsible to plan, coordinate and control the movement of pedestrians and vehicles, as well as define the use of road space, safety and welfare of the city population.

In view of its preparations for launch of operations, our client asked as to support the development of a Transport Centre in order to manage transport services in the area of responsibility, ensure the delivery of agreed service levels, lead the resolution of transport-related issues and incidents and collect and share critical transport information with stakeholders.

Our client needed to design and operate a Coordination Center for the city's transport and traffic operations during a major multi-day event. Public transport providers and traffic network managers were required to work in partnership for the first time, to exchange information and to collectively ensure smooth transport for hundreds of thousands daily purpose passengers, while preserving unimpeded city operations.

Our client had undertaken for the first time the world’s most prestigious motor event in a brand new circuit. A venue of capacity greater than 100,000 was under construction along with the circuit for an investment that exceeded 400 million $. The venue is located at considerable distance from the neighboring mega city, lacking public transport connectivity. Our client wanted to ensure the smooth, unimpeded and timely transportation of more than 100,000 spectators to the event.

According to the venue footprint of a winter multi-sport event, one major sports complex is located by the coastal zone and includes major competition venues and several non competition venues, such as the media broadcasting facility, the Athletes village, the hotel of the VIPs and other hotels, as well as a key bus depot.

The client is responsible for traffic planning and management in one of the most significant urban areas of the world. Due to the significant increase in car ownership over the last decade and limited corresponding enhancements of the road network, multiple road corridors in the city experience traffic congestion.

Our client was committed to delivering best ever transport services for the millions of spectators of the most prominent para-sport event in the world. Less than one year and a half prior to the event, our client asked us to identify the required transport delivery programs, as well as in determining key milestones.

The organisers of the most recognised winter multi-sport event needed to address the operational challenges of transferring spectators, workforce and Games Family clients to two mountain competition venues that were sharing resources, a 3-lane mountain road and a cable car. The two competition venues were located in close proximity and they had limited parking areas.

Our client was responsible for the development of a transport and traffic monitoring center in the heart of the sports activity for the world’s premier multi-sport event, i.e. in a venue cluster where more than 70% of the total activity would take place. This center was designed to monitor pedestrian movements, station operations and rail services delivery, coordinate spectator demand with rail capacity, and intervene in case of incidents in the transport network.

The organizers of the most recognised winter multi-sport event of the world had developed a revolutionary venue footprint with two poles: a) a coastal cluster, and b) a mountain cluster. The two poles were connected by a new rail system, and two mountain roads.In the specific event, spectators and workforce were allowed access to venues only by public transport.

The organizers of a major winter multi-sport event had planned for approximately 10 Vehicle Screening Areas in order to allow access to the secure perimeter of a main sports complex with multiple competition and non competition venues. During the planning period, concerns had been raised regarding the location of the Vehicle Screening Areas and their ability to address the expected vehicle demand without long queues and waiting times.

Our client, a nominated Host City of a major multi sport event, had just developed its transport strategic plan. Before entering into a consultation process with all stakeholders and the public, the Organizing Committee and the City Authorities wanted to validate its strategic directions and plan content through an independent assessment.

While planning transport operations for multi-sport events, host cities are typically developing special models for the event generated demand (spectators, workforce and other clients). Such models may provide input for the strategic transport model that the host cities run to support decision making in such occassions.

Our client had just completed the detailed operational design for its Coordination Center to be operational during the most recognized multi-sport event worldwide. The Coordination Center covered the city's transport and traffic operations embracing public transport providers, traffic network managers and event specific organizations.

Our client was facing significant challenges in planning its transport operations for a major multi-sport event. Nine months prior to the opening ceremony, planning of the respective transport systems for Athletes, accredited Media, Technical Officials and Games Officials was not initiated.

Our client was a special entity created to deliver the transport plan for the most recognised summer multi-sport event. In addition to the coordination of the delivery of transport infrastructure, our client was responsible for the design of the exclusive road network, spectator transport planning and transport coordination during the event.

The client organization was interested in understanding the readiness of the city's transport infrastructure and systems, as well and the fit of its long term transport investment plan in order to enter the official bidding process for hosting a major multi-sport event. Understanding of the event's transport requirements was also part of our client's expectations.
