Planning freight intermodal services requires unique expertise and significant information management capabilities. Members of our team have contributed significantly in opening the planning process to systematic users of such services in Europe, and in developing optimal plans with respect to multiple objectives. We contributed in the development of a suite of innovative applications and services to support advanced intermodal freight planning. Significant benefits include the opening of the process to key users, cost savings in the order of 20%, and savings in the door-to-door transport time in the order of 25%. In addition, risk factors and greenhouse gas emissions are embedded fully in the process of selecting the most effective plan.
